I drive through NJ a lot and the mandatory full service might be why it broke LOL. Them filler upper dudes are not that gentle with the nozzle.
I went in to get a drink once and the dude was trying to top it off ended up overfiling it, pulled out the nozzle gas flying all over the car. Long story short got a free car wash out of it.

I was in NJ back in 2005 and got out to pump off of the turnpike. The guy must have thought I was crazy as I him when he came up to me asking what I was doing.
Him: HEY HEY! what are you doing?!
Me: What does it look like I'm doing? Pumping gas.
Him: It's illegal to pump your own gas in the state of NJ.
Me: Yeah right. Go pound sand.
Him: Take a look right here. (Pointing at some obscure sign)
Me: Check the plate. (FL plate)
Him: Well unfortunately someone killed themself while pumping so it became the law.
Me: *GRUMBLE* *GRUMBLE* Do what you gotta do.
Are you supposed to tip these guys? I know I didn't.
