very good point jp. i really dont think these g8 gt's are what everyone makes them out to be. i mean they are fast yes, and there amazing cars and i want one. but i really dont think they are that much faster if faster then gp gxp. like i said if i get to i will race one and film this weekend for you guys

I have experience with GTs by the way, so I know about the 'feeling'.

EDIT: Have proof, William, or is it just a feeling? Because like I said before, the 6 speed can make it 'feel' faster. Hell my friend's Si 'feels' faster because it's a 6-speed.
G8's are pretty much proven faster than our LS4 cars. You ran 13.9 @ 99 - which isn't bad, but is a slow time for a stock G8GT - the norm is 13.5-13.6 @ 103-104. On some runs with my brothers G8GT were close until higher speeds when the G8 really walked over the Imp - which has always ran decent. I was running low 14's @ 97-98mph in the summer heat - that ended up being high 13's in cooler temps.

But anything definitely can happen, not all G8's run up to potential, there's some locals that are running high 13's and low 14's due to lack of driver mod. Throw pretty much an intake and tune on the G8 and it shouldn't even be a contest. My brothers ran 13.0 @ 107 with intake and tune.

G8's have the RWD advantage on launch. I've heard G8s running mid-14s, as well.

And I know how much an intake and a 93 octane tune wakes them up.

In most random encounters, I'm sure the G8s aren't in performance shift, which would make a little difference.

i agree they are nice but stock they are not the beast everyone thinks they are. i have yet to race one but i have driven a few before.

track times are tracks times, they have nothing to do with "street" races, i pulled on a bone stock GT, all i had was cutout open. i would say also bad driver in the GT but i still pulled on him from a dig, but i guess its highly impossible.

i heard that with the g8 gt you can get about 50 hp easily with a new intake,93 octane and a good tune? is this true?

Yep. My step-dad's went from me winning a close race, to him raping me when he got his Roto-fab CAI, muffler delete, and VMS 93 octane tune.

I have the roto-fab and straight pipes myself....getting the tune next year maybe, when I take the car out in the spring I should have my American Racing headers on and kooks axle backs installed.

So over the winter I'll be buying some goodies

Kewl race!! I raced my friends G8 GT and I was about a half to a full behind him from a dig. And his gears just started pulling from that point....he has axle back exhaust, K&N intake and a tune on it,........

seat of the pants feel is not relevant to which car is faster, my buddies stock LT1 t/a w/ intake has more seat of the pants feel than my GXP but i walk him every time.

is this in the driver seat or passenger? sometimes it feels faster in the passenger seat but thats just me
