Default Bigger MAF and Ported TB

Are there any benefits to putting on a bigger maf, say from a g8 gt or a 5.3/6.0L truck? Obviously increasing intake pipe size as well.

Also, I'm debating getting the tb ported, and was wondering if anyone has seen results by doing this?

I'm doing the LS1 intake swap for next season, but was thinking of doing the above mentioned mods too.

Input is much appreciated.

Yes! Get a screened LS6 MAF and hook that bad boy with .The proper size piping and air filter. A ported TB would be a real nice addition too. You should see 15-20hp with the intake swap and tubing.

yes, a ported TB and bigger maf DOES make a big difference, at least on a car with an LS6 intake and bigger cam. Not sure how much of a gain there is to be had with a stock intake though.

On a car with just an LS6 intake (and obviously the correct size piping) I'd be willing to bet there are gains to be had as well.

I sent fasterproms and new era pm's about porting the tb.

Does the LS6 maf have the same connections as ours, or is there a bunch of modifications that need to be done?

I've been told that the g8/truck maf has the same wiring pins as ours, but is 4" inlet and about 3.75" outlet, so I was thinking of using that one.

no it's not the same, you need a connector to make it work, NMP knows which one you need.

The connections should be close to the same. The newer style mafs have internal iat sensors. The difference may be from the 5 pin tbs

LS2 MAF has the same connectors. Which is why we can use the HSRK, if I'm thinking correctly.

Assuming the connectors are the same, you'll need to be retuned immediately.

Go with a ZO6 2002 MAF or the G8. Both will require tuning.

Sounds good. Tuning is not a problem as I have an awesome tuner. Will at overkill motorsports does a phenomenal job.

I certainly have followed them.

They're very helpful.

So parts I'll be gathering over the winter are:

G8 Maf
TB Adapter from brian396
LS1 Intake swap and all required parts.

It's getting too cold up in in Canada and pointless on adding new mods at this point, so this will be done in the next few months.

Thanks for your help guys.
