Converted my car to a cheap Impala LS
...for the Winter anyway. Threw the new snow tires on 215/65/16 General Altimax Arctics on steel wheels with ebay Impala replica hub caps. I was surprised how well it rides now with a little more side wall on the tires, I really like it. Would it be sacrilegious to trade the 18s for some 16s permanently?

considering the first good snow is supposed to start within less than 24 hours ... i think i may too late to do this as well ...
but theres still time before it gets too crappy, considering im about 5-6k from needing new tires period, im contemplating doing this for the winter and saving for a good set of summer tires, getting my stock rims painted black and having a nice setup ready for spring/ summer - guess i should start perusing craigslist, see if i cant find some steelies -
do the stock impala/ monte steel rims fit for sure over stock brakes and everything ... i really dont know if there is a difference ?
looks good btw, makes me laugh though because i have seen more than one impala or monte in my area, riding around on our 18's with SS badges in random places ... with a single exhaust pipe

With the exception of the SS badge, it's looks like one of the many un-marked NJ State Trooper cars that I see on my morning commute. Most are missing hubcaps, BTW.

There used to be a red mustang GT around here with a light bar. havent seen it for a while thought. thers also an older style camaro ss around here somewhere. I have seen a green grand prix gtp with moving radar in the window and light bars. It pisses me off when i see this kind of stuff.

They are just junk yard Impala LS wheels, they let me test fit them to make sure they would clear the brakes. I may have my 18s up for sale or trade soon. May go with 17s from an LT.

I did this with my LS6-cammed 2000 Z28. Pulled all the badges off it, then put on a Magnaflow single-outlet muffler and an electric cutout. Everyone thought it was 6-cylinder T-top coupe....At least until it was too late! I even had a couple of teenagers come up to me at the track and ask how a V6 Camaro could run 12.70s!!
Good fun!
