Default LS4 Harmonic Balancer

I have read about a few failures with the stock balancer , What I am wondering is do we have any aftermarket solution available ?

thanks

Mine is wobbling too. I plan to take it in Wednesday. It is my understanding that they will eventually take out the flexplate if not replaced promptly. I am getting harmonics throughout my car. I thought is was just the transmission at first but now I think it has both issues. I don't know if there is an aftermarket replacement for our cars.

well I guess I will look into an aftermarket LSx balancer and then try and see if I can machine it to work for our app.

does anyone care to chime in on which LSx would give us the closest balancer to stock ? I think i can machine off the first ribbed section and leave the back one . I am hoping there is someone out there who can make a educated guess on what to purchase .

Dealer looked at mine and said some wobble is normal. I don't care for it though. No other engine that I've owned has had this issue. Maybe they don't want to change it because it's such a chore to replace. In 9 months or 48,000 miles, whichever comes first, it'll be my problem and not theirs!

Well SLP is not interested in making a Balancer for the LS4

ATI will make custom ones for way too much , I will talk to them about a group order price. There is a lot to that though

Professional Product is looking into it as of now.

I dont know what happen to Powerbond as I cant get ahold of them and there email is a dead account. I had a Powerbond for my 3800 S/C , was a very nice piece .

any other companies you guys can think of ?

We might have a application that could benifit from an underdriven LS4 balancer. If it works, we would need several of these. If there are some interested buyers that might help push a supplier into building something that would work for us, would all of you be OK if it was 25% underdriven from the large stock diameter? I am not sure it could be done that easily considering how tight the balancer is to the center of the timing chain cover where it sticks out, but we can leave that to the potential suppliers. Since I spend so little time here on LS1tech, please email me directly through my web page in my signature.

One more thing... This is NOT Mike. He has been gone for years. How the Hell can I change the name on my account to Renegade Scott, instead of Renegade Mike 928? The rest was easy. Thanks...

Scott...

Back from the dead... Aftermarket underdriven balancers have caused some timing chain breakage due to harmonics. I was looking at a few GM part sites and have noticed that they have replaced the older part number with a newer number. I am wondering if the new number is an upgraded version?
I plan on ordering a new balancer for my new engine going in this week

Drop the craddle and use a impact gun to remove the bolt
