Is there a simple way to disable DoD?

I've searched but didn't come up with any threads saying how to disable this sometimes annoying feature. Can we get a sticky? This seems to be a fairly common question.

If there was a foolproof simple way, I would have written an article on it.
You are lucky to have an 06, recommendation would get yourself a DiabloSport Predator model U7191 or HIGHLY recommended TRINITY.
There are many,many benifits to this solution and plenty of threads of what it can do for you.

 

Unplug your variable effort steering?! We forgot to plug the wire back in after replacing my lifters and it would NOT kick in until I plugged it back in.

 

Dont unplug anything. Everything works together. Best bet is to buy a tuner. Sucks... I know, i just had to buy a hand held myself.

 

I turned my off using a Diablo tuner. It takes about 3 minutes.

 

take wire cutters to your dod connector

 

Dont muck with the dod connector! Your motor will get stuck in 4 cylinder mode!

 

Thanks for the replies, I'll be getting one of the Diablosport tuners before I get the headers. Sounds like I have to wait.

Are the people with DoD disabled getting less oil consumption? I'm under the impression DoD is why we,re using so much oil, is this true?

i also noticed ( when my oil pressure sensor went out DOD was disabled) that when cruiseing my torque converter wouldnt lock and unlock like 2-3 times when cruising and it wasnt as touchy to unlock.

 

Exactly - top driver side of engine under the throttle. My sensor failed also - will throw a code but will eliminate the DoD for free.

 

Never saw an answer for this question, can you disable dod with a tech 2? That is the dealerships diagnostic tool.

I have an 08 GXP and Diablosport says that The Predator is not compatible so what are my options as far as disabling the DoD?

but in all seriousness, find someone that can tune with hp tuners in ur area or send out ur pcm for a tune.

I thought you could drive in 3 instead of OD, but this is an ancient thread. Save for a tune.
