Default Flipped motor mount

Ok guys, maybe I am a total DA but here goes, Since we were experiencing an Ice storm here in Ohio today I decided to work on the Monte, so I changed the oil and flipped the motor mount, I have not driven the car yet, but I fail to see how doing this will make any difference, I just took the wishbone off and turned it over... Is this what you are talking about... if I am way off base let me know and post a picture.. Thanks

You flipped the dog bone?

A flipped MM is rolling the rubber piece in the dog bone, slightly cuts down on engine rock. A poly mount is much better.

Yep. like I said I cannot see how that would make a difference.. I was looking at that rubber piece and thinking about rolling that too, but didn't . Thanks

Flip the dog bone back, and roll the mount, like I said slight difference, but it is a difference. If you want more noticeable difference, get the poly.

yeah, it's the rubber mount inside the dog bone, not the dog bone itself, hehe...

How the heck do you get the rubber part out of the metal mount to "flip" it?? I'm assuming we're talking about the square bushing that sits in the metal bracket that mounts to the radiator support, correct??

if you're just going to flip it over, there's no need to take it out.. just put a ratchet/wrench on the bolt on either side of it... lube up the 4 sides of it with some wd-40, then TWIST/TURN that ****!! and it will flip right over...

if you are replacing it altogether with a poly mount, like I did... then just lube it all up all over the place, and use a big-*** flat-head screwdriver and you can push/pry it out, all in once piece... no need to hack/cut it all up like others say they had to do... they were just impatient... hehe...

That is exactly what I did, I took a 3/8" bolt, just long enough to get through the metal inner portion of the mount, lubed the crap out of it with WD then I placed a wrench on both sides and she surprisingly rotated quite nicely.. I tried to pry the sucker out first but changed my mind after about 5 mins of cussing!!

Much less engine rock and paired with a shorter dogbone, it puts the power to the ground faster.

Even though you flip it it still has some play, have someone rev your engine and watch.

Watch how much it still rocks with it flipped. All the yellow is gone, btw...

Could the rocking, or movement actually alleviate stress on the engine and transmission?

In other words, with everything stiffened up, could it actually cause things to become too harsh?
