new GXP owner here....
Winter in West Michigan is not the time to find out what it can really do, but I am excited. I haven't had a fun car since the mid 90's when i sold my 89 LX 5.0, but this one is faster and all 3 kids can sit in the back. They love it. And the wife, who hates anything that sits lower than her Tahoe, took it to the store tonite and came back with a big grin.
Great forum you have going here. I'm looking forward to tweaking the GP within warranty regs, and then doing something more after it expires. Unlike the Mustangs, it looks like there aren't many bolt ons for these cars. But as an avid DIY'r I really enjoy this board and the creativity of retrofitting stuff. I expect to get some strip runs this summer since my dad bracket races a tubbed 383 S10, now I get to do more than sit and watch.

I've already spent way too many late nighst reading some of the tuning and intake/cam swap threads. I'm developing a dangerous level of knowledge that needs to be fine tuned now. Be forewarned, I will have tons of q's for you guys soon.....but I will also try to give back as much as I can.
Meanwhile, can someone make all this white crap go away?

As far as mods, I am thinking first a tranny cooler and shift kit, and maybe an HP Tuner. I'm a diy tinkerer so I like the idea of tuning myself but I am not sure if I will have time to do it right, so I may just pay for a tune. Before I do anything I will be chatting with a cousin who is a service manager at a local GM dealer to make sure I do not endanger the warranty I have remaining. Once it is out of warranty I would like to do a K&N or CAI, exhaust, and maybe an intake and rockers....and maybe cam? We shall see, thats a ways off. I really want the air filter now but I also don't want to mess with my warranty at all just in case the tranny craps.
I am planning to do some sound system upgrades ASAP, the Monsoon isn't bad but it definitely is lacking to my critical ear. I spent a lot of time as an installer and salesperson back in my younger days and I still have some gear laying around. It appears the Monsoon system is easier to add amps/speakers than many of the other GM cars. I will be putting in a better amp, adding a real sub, and replacing all the factory drivers with 2-way components. I may also try to tweak the front speaker locations, they aim down right now which blows. I'd like to aim them higher but I don't want to have to fabricate new door panels so we shall see. I'd like to keep the factory head unit at least for now.
After 48 hours, still no buyers remorse.....hard to believe you can buy this much car for the money, I am impressed.
