Default Battery install

Looks like its time for a new optima. I understand the install is a bitch, how much time should I set aside for it ?

Unbolting the fusebox and moving it out of the way a bit helps a lot.

Be carefull when taking out the old battery. My original battery leaked from the top as I tilted it to take it out.

20 minutes... Took me an hour to get the Failco out, I have large hands, though.

09 Impala SS: I had Advance Auto Parts do it because is was free. Guy sighed when he saw it was an LS4. Took him longer to take the old one out than put the new one in. Took about 50 minutes. Would have taken me longer for sure. Side note: I love my Red Top.

I agree with everyone here. Just go to advanced and help the dude out when he puts it in. Its free and you don't have to sweat or scuff up your knuckles.

I'm surprised Advance changed it, I've got a couple of friends that work at one and they said they wouldn't touch my battery, lol. Says 'most models' on the ad.

Quoted for truth.

I swapped in an Optima last month, and the first thing I did was unbolt the fuse box and move it aside. The whole process took me 30 minutes, and that included rerouting my HID harnesses.

Is this one of those pranks where I walk up to the counter with a new red top in hand and whisper to the clerk "BAT25" expecting my discount but instead get a WTF look and pay full price?

EDIT** I checked online and it works, but still higher than O'Reilly's price, anybody got a code for O'Reilly?

I actually ordered my Redtop from Advance online, it shipped to my office for free, then I walked into my local Advance with the receipt and they installed it. I called the store before ordering online just to make sure that was the way it worked. I had to order online because it was not stocked at any local stores. They would not take a credit card to order it. They wanted me to drive there, pay for it, then return for the install when it arrived. Online saved me a trip.

Make sure O'Reillys includes shipping...I paid $148.00 for mine shipped.

O'reilly's is figuring in sales tax and free shipping or I can pick up. Advanced is not showing anything for tax

Plus through Advanced Online my final price is 157.49

we get ripped up here. the cheapest I found it (there are not many dealers close to me) was $188 + tax. Surprising since our dollar is above par. I don't mind doing stuff like this, so I picked up the batterytoday and it will be going in tomorrow. I'll count all the swear words and let ya know.

Gotta get it done early cause I have my first tee time of the year at 2 pm. Yahoooo.

Try the same code but with BAT30. I think that is what I had, but honestly cannot 100% recall. I do know for sure that it was $148 shipped, tax, installation, included, the whole nine yards...

The good news is, my optima yellow top went in a lot easier than the old delco came out...

Don't feel bad, I was getting that price and higher around here too. Online and coupon code saved me.

Pain in the ***. I actually have a whole thread about my battery ordeal with this car. I didn't splurge for the Optima though.

Got it done in about an hour. Only had a couple if wtf's, but would have helped if the battery has a handle on the side.
