Default I Need Understanding

Ok i want to put and exhaust or switch out my mufflers but i dont understand what most of you guys mean by downpipes, cat or catlees. I not trying to be a pest but I want to sound good. I like the sounds of mustang and chargers, but i know i cant get those sounds. But I aslo heardn from a buddy of mine told me that i could switch out my converters and try to order some magnaflow converters, is that possible? and also what are some good mufflers?

Downpipe is the pipe that connects the the exhaust manifold, and bends back. Really no need to replace the stock cat as it is high flow, unless you go catless. As far as mufflers, hit up YouTube, most run MagnaFlows. I'll be ordering Borla soon.

You won't sound exactly like a Mustang or Charger unless you swap in a Mod Motor or Hemi because the heads have a lot to do with sound, but you can still sound really nasty. Definately check out youtube. There are a ton of exhaust videos on there; I've got a couple up.

Edit: JP nailed it by the way. If you clarification, fire away.

all have K&N intake and bigger piping from after the cat with different tips. Hope this gives you an idea of flowmasters style at least. Magnaflow also sounds good.

The long muffler looking thing behind the cat. We cut it out and replace it with a normal piece of pipe.

2nd and 3rd pic show the cat and the newer section of pipe is where the resonator would have been.. As the name implies a resonator is tuned to for certain sound waves that would resonate and make most of the driving public unhappy to have in there car.

I have a 3" catless downpipe with an open cutout.. Wanna talk loud? ***** sounds like a tractor on roids.. Lol.. Def needs headers or a cam, though, to get rid of that "hole-in-the-exhaust sound"..

I love mine with just muffler deletes. A little droney but overall not to loud cruzing. I think mine would sound even better if I got rid of factory tips. Should have done that before.

I have Flowmaster 40's with a High Flow Down Pipe, and res delete. Nice solid tone, can be a bit raspy at higher on the powerband and the drone will **** your girlfriend off if your over 2100 RPM but thats what its all about anyways.

I had a Hemi before this and I really like how deep these engines sound! I had cutouts with Hiflow cats on my Hemi and it sounded wicked! I have a cutout on my SS and its not as wicked since it is stock exhaust all the way around but still love the deep sound!

Getting rid of the muflers is a great way to shead some weight too!
