Question Launching off the line

Hi everyone!!! I have a BS 06 impy ss and I wanted to see how much power this baby holds... Thing is that I've never driven a car by using the 1-2-3 selectors... I've been told to slap it in 2 and launch out, but I don't quite know how to even "launch" a car... Yes I admit i am a complete novice on this part... I do have knowledge on what RPM's are and what "redlining" a engine is... What I'm asking is how to do this correctly and if I should even try it at all( don't wanna stress the tranny, they are suspect already).. Any info will be greatly appreciated!! Thanx people!!

For SS's put it in drive and roll into the gas, ease into it until it grabs and go wide open. With GXPs, we have more fun with a full blown manual mode.

With a stock car I'd put it ON the converter and roll into it.

I said mode. It hits limiter and has paddles, it's full manual. Some have a "manual' mode, where you can select the gear but it shifts on its own anyway.

I'm gonna install a fake clutch just to screw with you.

He needs to do a burnout, just not in the water. They heat up better that way....

Thanks for the replys!!! But I thought the reving to such a high rpm and dropping it in gear thing was a no-no.. I've seen my cousin do it in his and he took off from 1st and slapped the selector around like it owed him money all the way back to D...

@1bad06mcss- don't worry I wasn't... I'm not that much of a novice!!! Lol... I was just asking because I've seen my cuz use his 1-2-3 gears(starting in 1 not N of couse) and it seemed like he was tearing the blacktop a new one!!!
