Nitrous. Or a really bad driver, apparently there were 3 Auto SS's running between 14.0 and 14.6 in Monroe.

We should lock this thread before the Camaro SS guy's jump over here and start pecking fights, after remarks like that.

They are not impossible to beat, but you have better have a seriously built trans and a big turbo under the hood. A built wallet too!
I'm sure Travis or myself can give a stock auto a run for their money. Would be close though.

Why? I've seen 12 second cars run 15s... A bad driver is a bad driver, no matter what is being driven.

Buddy was out there watching, said a V6 was running low-mid 15s.

Hmm...420+ crank HP in a 3900 lb car versus 303 HP in a 3500 lb car...

Let me try polishing off my math...28% more HP with only 11% more weight.

You've got a ways to go. Like David said above, get a built-to-**** tranny. Get ALL of the bolt-ons, (LS6 intake, headers, full exhaust, rockers ,etc.) and you should be able to hang with a 75-shot of spray. That would probably be the cheapest way to do it.

Turbo would be better, but would likely cost more, and I'm sure traction becomes a major issue.

Traction IS very important, and here's why: Both 6-speed Zeta Camaro SS's I've raced in my Grand National were dispatched by a couple of car-lengths from a dig, and I was putting down about 330 HP/400+ lb-ft to the rear wheels at the time. That's roughly 380 HP at the crank, so I'm down about 40 HP to the Camaro. My 3680 lb weight with me in it helps a little, but the big difference is traction. A Turbo Regal can hook in a wet car wash, and that's what earned me both kills.

The lesson is, build your power where you can use it, and find a way to get it to the ground.

They had one at the track last week running 12.9 with just dr's. Still was kinda spinning too..... Good luck with that one buddy!!
