Default Adding amplified subwoofer

I want to purchase a amplified subwoofer to give my 07 Impala SS factory Bose system some more bass. I have searched around and looks like I have some options but Im looking for the easiest/cheapest way to do this. So I can tap right off the Bose amplifier in the trunk? Could I also purchase one of those PAC devices that will plug into the harness behind the factory HU to give me RCA connections? If I tap right off the amplifer what wires am I looking for? Any pictures of a LOC (line converter) installed? Thanks!

I would like to do this as well. I have seen a post that talks about our bose amps having equalization build in to match the stock speakers thus limiting the deepest bass. Has anyone know of a harness available that would plug in before the amp, possibly a T harness ?

Yes I have heard good things about the LC2i. Dont know if the Monsoon is similar to Bose or not but how/where did you connect the line out converter?

Yeah that is a little much just to add a sub to the stock system. I like the factory look and I know there are cheaper LOC's out there.

you dont have to add the PIE input to add a subwoofer just the converter. at the time i purchased mine they had some $20 off coupons if you used payal so that helped and their are cheaper LOC i think walmart has em for ~$20. i also like the factory look along with using the amp for the internal speakers, also would have had to find an adapter or somesort so i could retain steering wheel controls

There are plenty of $20 alternatives. I have a scosche. Works awesome. Even if your are dead set set on that particular one, don't buy it from crutchfield, they are expensive.

You can use the audiocontrol Lc2i and tap into the speaker wire for your factory 6x9 speakers. I did this recently and feed a Pioneer amp bridged mono for 800w and 2 dvc subs in ported box. You would be best to remove your rear seat and deck cover to have access to the wiring.

X2 you don't need the fancy LOC it won't do much for you. Id go with an Alpine MRX series amp which has a LOC built right in. That line of amps is about the best bang for the buck amp around while still getting a quality product.

i used the cheapest method lol because i am cheap, i bought the five dollar speaker wire with the rca connectors on each end at radio shack, cut off one end, spliced it, taketo one speaker in the rear and put positive on one side of speaker, negative on the other terminal, then connect the other end into your rca inputs on your amp, repeat other side, BOOOMIN for less than 10 bucks!

Thanks. Do you splice into the rear speakers before the factory amp or after?

I tapped right onto the speaker terminals, but if u can find which wires before amp, it would probably be safer on your amp although I've had mine hooked up for 3 months with no issues. I ran the remote wire into the fuse for the radio so ur amp will power on/off with radio. Ran ground to rear strut tower bolt. 4 gauge Power was ran alongside the remote, under rear seat , tucked under door channels on passenger side and ran through front door grommet up to battery. Cheers!

would advise before the amp, you are adding ohms of resistance and will get less *** out of the back speakers if you tap on the the speakers directly (after the amp)
