Shouldnt be any difference at all. If that works then use the 06. I just did it with an 05 gxp and it gave me the right options, not sure why it wasnt working for ya.

I think that its illegal in WI to have your tires studded. Check it out, but im pretty sure.

It is:

347.45  Tire equipment.
(1) All automobiles, motor trucks, motor buses, truck tractors, trailers, semitrailers, recreational vehicles, and mobile homes when operated upon a highway shall be completely equipped with tires inflated with compressed air and all other motor vehicles when operated on a highway shall be equipped with tires of rubber or of some material or construction of equal resiliency. No person may operate on a highway any motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, recreational vehicle, or mobile home having any metal tire in contact with the roadway, except that tire chains of reasonable proportions may be used when required for safety because of snow, ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid, and except as provided in sub. (2) (c).
(2) No person shall operate on a highway any vehicle, including farm tractors, self-propelled farm implements, implements of husbandry, animal-drawn vehicles and road machinery, if such vehicle has on the periphery of any of its tires any block, stud, flange, cleat, spike or other protuberance of any material other than rubber which projects beyond the tread of the traction surface of the tire, except that:

245/45/18 will fit front and rear wheels on a gxp. I also have some 235/50/18 i plan on running next winter. Check out craigs list. i got my hankooks on there for $300 and went around to all the little "local" tire shops. and found the 235 blizzaks for $200 for all four tires.

I always reccomend Bridgestone Blizzaks , and you can mount them on the factory rims.

I bought practically new stock 17" take-off rims that had been sitting for years from an '04 Comp-G. I paid $400 for them, sold the tires for $150 then paid $250 for a like-new set of Blizzaks. Both deals were found in the newspaper. So, for cheap i have a nice winter set of wheels/tires. BTW - the Blizzaks are awesome. You almost can't break them loose on a snowy road. You have to try anyway.

A couple last comments - 16" wheels won't clear the GXP's massive calipers. Also, if you swap out wheels/tires don't forget a spare. In my case I bought a compact spare (can't recall from what) that would clear the calipers. I also picked up a stock jack assembly. I didn't pay much for it sincde there's almost no demand for them :-)

now that you have your winter setup. you wouldnt want to get rid of that extra set of 18s would you? i have some 245 45 18 blizzaks that need some wheels for winter.

nah, the stock 18" GXP wheels with new Kuhmos are stored until spring. That's the new part - no more mounting and unmounting. I should have put pressure sensors in the winter setup though. Not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.
