Good afternoon all,
I have a '06 gxp with 55k miles on it and stock exhaust. Unfourtantly the driver's side muffler is rotted out and feels spongy. I would like to replace it with the magnaflow cat back system and was wondering whats the difference of exhaust tone in the interior between stock and the magnaflow? My wife drives it about as much as me and it's getting really loud in the interior for her liking. Any comments would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Mine drones a good amount between 2-3k rpm, but its also 4 years old and seems to have gotten louder with age. Maybe it drones more on the GXP? On the durability front though, it has minimal rust, tips are still perfect.

Thanks for all the comments it really helps! I've listened to a few youtube videos and really like the magnaflow exhaust note. I noticed a few of you noted the drone being worse than stock and would like to tune out dod to resolve the helicopter and drone. I really would like the interior sound to be no more than stock since I have a 2 year old and a 3 week old riding in the back.
Thanks again everyone!

I would just go with stock mufflers then, pretty much any after market exhaust will have some 'noise' side affect that you may not like. On my 08 GXP I have the stock mufflers with the resonator removed, in my opinion its the perfect exhaust sound on a daily driver.
It sounds good when idling and accelerating, but on the highway is has no more drone that when it was new. I have heard a few magnaflow & flowmaster cars in person, they sound good but all of them had cruising drone at highway speeds. Taking DOD off will help the helicopter noise but the overall drone will still be there.
So from what you wrote, I would say definately stay with stock mufflers. But who knows maybe a loud exhaust would put those kids to sleep.
