Default Drivetrain "clunk" at highway speed

I just started to hear/feel this condition about a week ago. A clunk is the best way to describe it. The car just turned 47K.

When driving at normal highway speeds (50/55/60 mph) I would get a noticeable clunk from the engine/trans area.

It would happen after coasting and then getting back into the gas gently. It almost feels like there may be some slack in the drivetrain.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what may be the cause?
The car runs and shifts fine otherwise.

Sounds like a DoD issue. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can elaborate.

Maybe front lower motor mount,do you feel vibration on the gas peddle when you press on it?

DOD would be my gut reaction but the way you are describing it is weird. Can you be more detailed? How are your wheel bearings?

Wheel bearings and such are fine AFAIK. Wouldn't they "click" before failure? I didn't check the lower mount. DoD is functioning fine thanks to the audible "helicopter" effect. No shudders or gas pedal vibrations.

It only happens at highway speeds when the trans is in O/D and only when I ease back into the gas pedal after coasting (like slowing for traffic). I don't feel it when I stab the gas after slowing down.

I will check if it happens when the trans is cold. I drive for about 3 miles before the DoD gets up to operating temp every morning.

90 percent sure its this.

I have the EXACT same problems, except my car throws code P740(I dont think thats what it actually was) but everyone else who had the same code and got their tranny fixxed had a bad TC or solenoid.

Precisely.

Slowing from 60 to 59 and then easing back into the throttle. Convertor should still be engaged I would think, no?
