Small update, haven't heard anything more about the Grand Prix. :\
AND the second day I had the 944, the transaxle went.
Been driving around my girlfriend's dad's '90 Chevy. Mulling the idea of getting an '04ish 5.3 Silverado SCSB for towing, said always broken 944, and random fun.

The thousand dollar hood surprised me...
The 944 is still broken by the way. Any time I find a decently priced transmission it sells fast. And the two a pull-it yards had been jacked with and messed up. :\
