i know i heard they dont make them for the grand prix gxp ls4's......but i found thiss....let me know what u guys think. thanks.

no man.. garbage... I wouldn't let ANYTHING Jet near my car... and especially any "chip"...

you need a flash programmer so that you can tune the ecm/tcm the correct way, get your fueling/timing dialed in, etc... not some plugin chip that fools the MAF sensor and other things to change how it runs....

plus, there's no data logging, you can't make any adjustments, etc etc...

i know people will think i am stupid but if i did get that flash programmer is it the same thing as getting it professionally tuned? or would it benefit if i got that and then after modding more take it to the dyno tune? so pretty much my question is is the hand held and a dyno tune the same thing? lol

if you get a Trinity, you'll have ecm and tcm support... comes with preset canned tunes on it that you can use... you can get full custom tuning done for it/your car by a diablosport CMR custom tuner (like myself).. you can data log to see what your car's actually doing and how it's running... it has a performance monitor for things like 0-60, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile, etc... you can adjust a lot of parameters yourself... you can scan for and clear trouble codes on any supported vehicle, etc etc...

and the custom tuning can all be done via email... and yes, the custom tune can be just as good, or even better, than a dyno tune... a dyno tune is only as good as the person doing the tuning, heh.. having it on a dyno doesn't automatically make it a better tune...

I've done several custom tunes via email for people after they've gotten "dyno tunes" and I've gotten more performance/power out of their vehicles than they had before, and the tune was still perfectly safe....

I've seen anywhere from 18-39hp / 12-23lb.ft. tq. gains on these cars with the custom tuning... of course, every vehicle is different.. fuel used, mods, location, altitude/elevation, etc all play a role in the gains you'd get...

it's definitely above and beyond what the canned preset tunes get you... and you gain even better/quicker throttle response & acceleration, stronger/harder pull, etc....

06MonteSS speaks the truth.

I've been running his tunes for about 2 1/2 years, and the benefits we've seen are much stronger acceleration, better fuel mileage, and a car that's a lot more fun to drive.

I've been thinking about getting a tuner, what affect do you think they have on stock ls4 transmission longevity?

hey there...

with these cars??? heh, it's a crap shoot tune or no tune... there's ls4 owners that never tuned and are on a 3rd tranny already... and there are those that did tune that are still on original tranny, heh...

My car's been tuned for 6 years, and my original tranny lasted til right around 100,000 miles... I'm at 121,xxx miles on the new tranny, still tuned, and now the tcm/tranny is tuned as well - for quicker, firmer shifts and a little higher shift point, and I love it... runs strong as hell...

unless the car is state of the art 1993 you have no reason to "chip" it people who "chip" cars are morons that are incompetent to do the job right sorry just finished this discussion with a guy at work who wanted to "chip" his 50k bmw
