I have 90k on my original tranny and no sign of problems yet. I have a comp g also with 122k and there's sooo many problems with it. Cost to fix is at 3k so I'm gettin ready to get rid of it. I fell in love with my GXP the very first time I got in it. I wouldn't trade it for any other car!

GET THE GXP!!!

From there it gets super expensive.
If you wanna touch 640hp the gxp is the way to go for your money , and you cant beat the v8.
I can think of one LS4 that may be within 50 HP of 640, so I'm not sure where your numbers came from.

Meanwhile, the 3800 has been into the 9's @ 135 MPH, with many more of them in the 10's.

A 3500 lb 9.90 car running 135 MPH through the traps is probably making 700 HP or damn close to it.

The fastest I've seen any LS4 run is 11.01 @ 126 MPH. This was a completely built motor with a big turbo running 14.5 lbs of boost with methanol injection. The owner estimated maybe 600 HP.

So, for ultimate speed, the 3800 car is a better way to go.

If we were comparing any other LS-powered vehicle, I'd take it over the 3800, but the LS4 just has too many handicaps to overcome unless you want to drop huge wads of dough.

Stick with the gtp, mods are cheaper plus you already own it. I'm slowly starting to mod mine. Only thing i have is CAI, ZZP wires, MSD coil packs, Cold spark plugs. My car from a stop with beat a 350z (HR)w/CAI, the 305hp model. I plan on 1.9 rocker, smaller pulley and down pipe. This should put me over 300whp easy.

Smaller pulley should do wonders. I did that on a Tbird Super coupe and it really woke her up!

CHP.
For ten grand you get 640 chp with the CT turbo kit + a TEP trans.

For ten Grand on a sc 3.8 IF your touching 500CHP your laughing.
Anything beyond 350-400CHP on the SC 3.8 gets very pricey very quickly.
