the shop by me will remove my resonator for $50 and install a pipe. Is that a good deal or high?

I gives the car a little more rasp and tone, but there's no performance benefit. Some guys here will swear by the res-delete, but to me, $50 for a slight difference is iffy.

I wish that I had kept my resonator because the drone vibrates the headliner loose. If you are looking to make the car louder, I would save for different mufflers. My flowmaster 40 series are loud. Too loud for long trips...

How quiet are the Dynomax VT's compared to stock? I'm looking to get it as quiet as possible to hide the fact that it's a V8....then open the cutouts when it's race time.

Smooth, I just installed a set of Dynomax VTs last week. I had the Flowmaster Super 44s before this, loved them for a while till they got on my nerves and I realized that it's too much for a daily driver. The Dynomax VTs are exactly what I was looking for! They're really quiet around town and got a nice rumble to em. When you step on it that's when the Valve Technology kicks in and you start sounding like a monster.

Hazards, I think it sounds good in your clip. Thanks.

20ss06, did you have your resonator removed when you had your supper 44's? I'm wondering if they'd bee too loud on a family car with the resonator in place.

I basically did the same thing with my converter and paid $25. I mean 2 welds and a small piece of pipe, that can be done in 15 minutes. I think $50 is way too much.

$50 sounds reasonable if you don't feel like spending a few hours underneath it yourself. By the time to get the pipe, have it cut and flared for a nice installation, get the car up on stands, cut the exhaust and weld everything up (providing you HAVE the welder) the fifty sounds better all the time.

I paid $20-25 to have mine cut off and replaced with piping. Keep it on its sounds better with the Res then without.

Super 44s are really loud mufflers on their own. I installed them with the resonator in place and they sounded real LOUD! They got even LOUDER when the res was deleted making it annoying and sometimes unbearable to drive around town and for long hours. Also, the sound was very raspy. It is pretty aggressive alright but not for a DD and surely not a family car. I got a set of Dynomax VTs installed last week, and it's the best choice I ever made. Sounds real nice with a real nice rumble and gets even meaner and louder when needed

Thanks for your honest answer. Actually I think these cars sound nice in stock form. The factory exhaust sounds surprisingly aggressive to me. However, one of the mufflers is starting to fail. I can get wholesale price on a factory replacement but it is still $800. I may still go that route.

I have an '08 SS in the shop and I had to put about 20 miles on it this afternoon. I see why the SS guys are modding their exhaust. I was surprised with how much quieter this car is than our GXP. Quieter outside and on acceleration, and no drone whatsoever inside. The two cars sound and feel much different.

I have a 408 with cam, long tubes, and TSP true duals with bullets and turndowns. This thing is waaay too loud for street use.

Im wanting to get the exhaust run over the axle with mufflers and tips. I think these VT mufflers would be a good choice. With this setup I think the VTs will be plenty loud.

Im just not sure they will fit after the axle.

Any ideas?
