Default Warranty Issues.

So my car is at the dealership for the ticking lifter problem and excessive oil consumption. Their answer is...."We can't replicate the reported noise" & advise an oil consumption watch,WTF?!?! If GM knows there's a problem with collapsed and ticking lifters and excessive oil consumption with the 5.3's what gives????

Good luck been down this road more than once. Not sure where you are from but if it's cold I'd leave it there overnight if you can and have them cold start it. Getting anything covered under warranty has been a dog fight every time.

I'm in Chicago. It's been there since Saturday and they say they haven't experienced the sound on cold start. If they can't /won't fix it I'm just gonna Overkill the DoD out and save up for my cam swapp.

Read the oil TSB.

You have to go through the oil consumption test before they'll actually attempt a fix.

Guess it depends on if they are related. I had all 16 lifters replaced under warranty without having an oil consumption test. The tick was there and the oil level was fine. In the end I guess it depends on how shitty of a day the service manager is having.

Personally if you are having that many issues w/ warranty, just go order the new gasket for $30, be sure to bring the p/n because they couldn't find it without it when I was there. Swap it out yourself and see how the car does with oil.

Although the tune w/out DOD is much more fun anyways so if you have the money...

Thanks. If they decide not to fix it then the oil pan gasket an DoD delete tune are a definite.

I go to the dealership to pick the car because they say they can't replicate the noise and we go to the yard to start the car and it sounds like a bunch of crickets under the hood. WTF!!!!!
