The headers don't have the cat in them, the down pipe does. So when you're installing them you can either use a new DP without a cat or you can use a new DP with a cat/your old DP.

You can, but your stock down pipe is the worst part about your exhaust (shrinks down to 2" at the smallest I believe) so by doing headers alone you won't really see gains. If I were you I'd just get a catted down pipe and put it on at the same time you do your headers so you see gains and it won't cost as much in labor. Plus you can sell your old cat for a few bucks.

You have to cut it before the upward bend or use a new pipe.

Headers are being welded now.
