so im looking at getting a 2006 SS looking at a 2006 and some other 07 to 09 impala SS's , do they all have the DOD ? should i worry about it ? i have heard some bad things about oil useage and brake downs with it..any other things to look for ? trannys go out to right ? just any help in buying one, this will be my first nice newer car and i dont wont a junker i cant aford to fix..thanks !

The trans problem is generally the only thing that typically happens that can leave you stranded.
Also, they can get outstanding highway mileage, but most will get abysmal city MPG
If you're looking for reliability, this might not be the best car for you. If you're willing to put up with the issues above, they're fun cars.

Stabilitrak only comes in 08 and up, its seperate from traction control. And the car is not a night mare. If you get a good deal and you have a little extra money, upgrade the trans and you will love it. Hell you may never have a trans problem. I would opt for a warranty.
