It could be. You're oil and gas types really have nothing to do with the engine failing. You could have killed a lifter(defective or not) while revving it that high that toasted the motor.

I have to disagree redline at 6 k won't really hurt a motor since the computer cuts fuel,when you mechanically force the motor to over rev that's when **** breaks, I have my shifts point at 6200 and never had an issue.

i broke in correctly according to alldata and gm. and anyhow it was slightly knocking before i went to the track. it was just very faint and i thought it was my water pump which i ordered a new of and was going to replace.

im not saying that it was a major factor. im just stating that the engine was properly taken care of at all times. and using the best oil and gas wont hurt and will help some
