Have you actually been through one where they looked? Even before they changed the law to exclude OBD1 cars, they very rarely ever looked. Once they excluded OBD1 cars, all they do is plug in to your OBD port, run some tests, and let you on your way. The only time someone ever said anything was "you've got some exhaust work done, eh?" when I was LTs/ORY/H/C.

Not having a tune would kill you though.

And you could always weld in a fake cat. They're like $40 after shipping. That plus a tune will fool the inspection if they do have visuals.

I haven't had to do one on an OBD2 yet, but my friends have. They said some places don't visually, most do though.
