Default manifold swap help

I'm preparing to do the ls1 manifold swap. I haven't begun yet but....could someone give me some insight into why the dod connector needs to be hacked up and a little more detail than the swap sticky. Much appreciated.

I'm doing an LS6 intake swap right now and I have a few questions too so I'll just ask too invade you run into them too. When drilling out the vacuum hose for the brakes it says use 7/16 bit and then it says tap it with a 1/4 tap with 18 threads per inch. How do you tap a 7/16 hole with a 1/4 inch tap?? And my next question is the MAP sensor. Do you reuse your LS4's MAP or use the LS6's MAP? Because the MAP plug doesn't fit the LS6 MAP but in the swap guide it looks like the LS6 MAP is the one being used.

That's where I'm stuck at :/

The DoD harness needs to be split apart so it is able to be plugged(of you don't plan to use DOD you can weld up the hole in the DOD tray.

7-16" drill is the proper size for a 1/4-18 pipe tap

Sorry, no just split it apart carefully and then heat shrink the wires, and you should be good to go.

Reuse your current MAP sensor. For my 2006 LS4, the stock MAP sensor is the same as the LS1/LS6 sensor. I think GM changed the MAP sensor in 07'

As for the DOD connector.. The connecter sticks up to far in the tray, and causes the intake to rest on it. You have to remove the upper portion of the connector and extend the wires. Use soilder and heat shrink with a little epoxy in order to seal everything up. The DOD tray is the hardest part of the swap.
