Default Exhaust manifold question

Does anyone know what our manifold is made out of, and can it be welded?

Cast iron.

The surface rust on ours gives it away!

Well crap. I had some joker the other day telling me they was cast stainless.
There's no way I'm going to try and weld on cast iron. You know 4 door grocery getter and all. The wife would be pissed if something let loose under there while she was driving.
Not to mention the Vin Diesel jokes if the welds on the manifold cracked. Lol

You can weld them or have them welded.
BUT , they have to go to someone who is familiar with cast iron. And they need be on a torquing plate throughout the welding process.

I thought they could be welded, but I don't want my first time to be on the GXP. And I'm kinda weird about letting other men but their hands on my baby.

Just as it sounds. Cast manifolds but instead of using cast iron, they use Stainless Steel. Durability of a cast manifold without having to worry about rusting. I ran a set of cast stainless tru-rams on the SBC in my fiero.

Here is a set for the LS1:
