Great Day at the Dyno!
Sorry for not being here for a little while. I changed my laptop over to Windows 8 and lost all my stored passwords. Anyways a month ago I had my '06 Impala SS at the dyno to find out why it didn't seem to have a little something. to it. It was fast but not as fast as it should. I have the K&N filter kit on it and a Magnaflow cat back exhaust on it. The first time I had someone try to tune it without a dyno but was seeing false knock at W.O.T. So I went to a friend of a friend's place that has a dyno and programs to see what was the issue. He made a run and the car made a SAE rating of 242HP/270TQ. Still knocking at W.O.T. I had fresh plugs and wires in it as well. Made a appt. to come back to him in 2 weeks to actually tune the car. (By the way he wanted to see how fast it would pull to in 3rd gear. The red line is set at 6250. Not even at red line it got up to 156mph.)
Two weeks later I take it back to him. He does his magic on the car. On a dyno that most people dubbed "The Heartbreak Dyno" he got a SAE rating of 270HP/282TQ!!!!!! (with the right calculations it makes 340/350 at the crank). Just driving the car it feels WAYYYY better than it did. Mid range is incredible now. The car could light the tires at the drop of a dime. Thanks to Fred at SMGmotoring in Hopedale MA!
