I understand that the coolant is 195 degrees. But without a cooler at all the tranny would be 300 probably. The fluid cant just sit in the tranny and cook it has to circulate. GM knows what they are doing and wouldn't have made the fluid run through the radiator if it wasn't efficient. That's why to me adding another one in series is the best. A standalone would probably work better if it was A huge one. But with these cars you just don't have the room.

It doesn't have to be huge. Mine is a standalone, 20k btu rated. I have it in front of the radiator. It fits nicely and snug. Dave @ TEP recommends the standalone and even has a kit for sale to do so.

Why does everything turn into an arguement on here? Imapla VS. Mustang, MCSS VS. LS1 Camaro, trans coolers, Fusion Fog light conversion, etc... Can't we all just get along?

I don't think it's so much an argument as it is a discussion with very strong sides. There has been an influx of new people, myself included and it seems to have caused some kind of bind. I lurked for a while before signing up and there wasn't always so much activity for a while, but as of late it has been a bit messy.

from what i have gathered on here really seems like temp wise bypassed and inline both run about the same.
bypassed mine due to transmission being trashed and didnt want any crap from the cooler to jack up my new transmission.

SSSoooooo, to get back on task....
I had asked this:
"Now, I did not buy a shift kit as I read here that you dont want both a shift kit AND tunning on the transmission. I am planing on tunning it, wither with HP Tuners or a InTune. Is that not the current thinking now?"
Any imput?

i'd get the shiftkit, i think the reasoning behind not wanting to get a tune and shiftkit (on the 4l60e) is that both would increase line pressure. not sure if thats the case with these shift kits since its just springs and seals, but if your doing a custom tune you can just watch the line pressure.
the shift kid comes with better seals too.

The reason people caution when having both shift kit and tune is because you can cause to much stress on hard parts in the transmission but if you use both with common sense....you won't have issues. Use your shift kit first get a feel for how Tue transmission is shifting then make small adjustments in the tune till everything is kosher

As far as the tranny cooler, it's not a argument it's a discussion. On my camaro I couldn't notice a difference either way. It is A LOT easier to took them up if you use the factory cooler. All you have to do is undo one line. That bottom cooler line is a pain to get to. Today it was 80 degrees outside and mine wouldn't get above 160 going down the road. Not sure what others without the factory cooler are doing.

Well, got my new Headlights in. Made a big difference.

Also, got my new front tires mounted and finished the Plasti dip. Car is pretty dirty, so will take some better pics when it is cleaned up.
Now I just need to do something about the parking lights, they are a bit cloudy. Would be nice if they were just tinted a little.
