07 monte carlo ss PO442 code issue
07 monte carlo ss PO442 code issue I have an 07 monte carlo, it stared showing tbe engine light, i scanned it and it showed PO442, i got a new gas cap, made sure to tighten to at least 3 clicks. light came back on the next day and it also showed code P3400. I have warranty on the car so i took it in to findlay chevrolet in las vegas. the service rep confirmed the code and said they replaced both evap solenoids. got the car back and the light came back on the next day. took it back in and they said P3400 means it was 1/2qt low om oil, tbey cleared the codes and claimed its all fixed. same day the light came back on, it still showed P3400 and PO442. took it back in and they said P3400 means one of the DOD solenoids is not working. they worked on it, got the car back and a day later the light came back on again with only code PO442.
any ideas?

P3400-cylinder deactivation system bank 1
Correct this would of disabled the DOD/AFM... it is not saying there is any particular problem, just that it was disabled due to a fault that could make it unsafe to operate.
P0442-Evaporate emission system leak detected (small leak)
Have them do a smoke test

You should stand your ground as to any further deductible due to the fact it was the initial request and has not been rectified.
For the DOD , yes it is more trouble than it is worth.... really! I know you still have warranty but I would recommend getting an inTune /Trinity and turning it off. You can turn it back on for dealer visits and they will never know.

Thanks, I took it to the dealer yesterday morning, they have not started on it yet. They said the service order had escalated to the shop foreman and he has not started on the car yet. We'll see what they say later today.

got the car back today, they said they did the smoke test, the fuel cap was leaking. that is the one I bought from oreillys. they replaced it with a GM cap, did the smoke test again, no leaks, also no fees. so far, engine light is off.

Yes you can turn it on and off as you wish and no the dealers will never know if you return it to stock tune prior to bringing it to them. It (tuner) also has many other benefits for you also.
