I'd drive it. Good luck with the swap.

The thing could be a Pinto and still be cool after the part swaps. Love this stuff! Good luck with it and please update, very curious.

Honestly most "cool" cars worth swapping become less cool when an ls4 is swapped into it. If your going through the trouble of a swap go for something with more potential ls1,ls2,lq4...the list goes on.

However, the ls4 has its place where a transverse v8 is needed. Just like this swap, and honestly a it's probably a pretty neat ride with everything done too it. Unconventional? With out a doubt, but so are our cars in the first place.

I had a Montana for awhile and it was a nice vehicle really. The weakest point was certainly the powertrain. I too would be interested in seeing pics of your manvan project.

The entire Cradle struts brakes and all. The factory upper dog bone mount lines up with the left hand side dog bone bracket on the van, even. Axles, everything. I'm not sure if the factory fans will I'm not sure if the factory fans will clear the front of the engine. I have already previously done a 3800 swap. but it is a shor but it is a short Dec engine so the head on the front of the engine doesn't come out as far as close to the radiator. I'm going to slide up in there this weekend before I take the engine apart and see how it fits. I'm running a truck tunnel ram style intake and throttle body. I bought a used L76 cam that I'm also going to install. It is a full 8deg more duration at .050" than the stock LS4 cam. That should be worth some good power. I'm going to put a set of LS6 valve springs in it. Should be a great motor and get pretty decent mileage with 3.29 gears. I'm actually considering going with the 369 final drive to maximize fuel economy in four cylinder mode.

You people need to cut the OP a break on the whole "why not swap into a cool car" crap.

As a veteran of many engine swap projects, I can speak of the pride that goes into doing something like this because it's unique and may even suit a purpose.

I applaud pontiacjeff for doing something different, as it's a refreshing change from all the posts on this site about "what exhaust is better than what", etc.

If I had room for another project, I'd probably do an LS swap into '62 Buick Special, keeping the column-shifter, but adapting it the T-56...Just to be different.

^^^ This is one of the best, most eloquent, and salient comments that I've read on this site in quite a while, and I whole-heartedly agree with it.

OP asks for specific information and then receives very little more than ridicule and useless personal opinions that he didn't ask for in return.

I wish that I knew the answer to your question, OP. I admire what you've accomplished with your Montana, what you're trying to do, and I wish you the best of luck!

X2 I have always told my wife if we have kids, I am going to find a way to build a fast van. I used to think a built 6.0 in a full size van, but I am starting to think this could be sweet too.

When I showed this to her the other night she rolled her eyes at me. Of course she does that every time I mention a van instead of SUV when we have a family.

Of course, you could yank the Duramax out of your truck and stick it in an Astro Van. Now that would be COOL!

I actually like the Astro van platform because of a full frame. I had thought of a 6.0 with a turbo on one. That was not appreciated by the wife either.

Agreed on the platform, and I think it's the cleanest, best looking van ever made.

You'd love my wife...The Impala SS is her car, and when it dies, she wants a 6-speed CTS-V Coupe. I want the CTS-V wagon, but she hates wagons, so I'll just have to make-do.
