Default horsepower question

Hey guys kinda new to the site, but anyways I drive an 06 impala ss and was wondering wat kinda hp u think I may be running. My mods are....intake, res delete, 3"zzp catted downpipe, super 44's and flashpaq tune. Just curious wat u think my hp gains may be? Also have a cutout just not installed yet

I would guess in the realm of 320-330hp. But to the wheels it's probably only like 310-315hp. Stock your car puts out 303hp. Most of those aren't big HP mods. Most intakes don't really add all that much. With a 3" downpipe unless you are running forced induction or some other really heavy HP mods, that may hurt you in the low end. And then muffler gains aren't to drastic either. The Tune is your biggest mod as far as HP goes. But even then, it depends on the tune. But yea, if I had to make a guess, I would say in the realm of 320-330HP overall and 310-315hp or so to the wheels. I'm sure others who have a lot more experience then I do will chime in at some point and can give a better guess then me.

I was just throwing numbers out there that sounded halfway reasonable. I have no clue, which is why I said I'm sure someone would chime in and probably give him a better idea lol

yeah, for FWD cars, it's about 12-15% loss... more for RWD cars...

the resonator delete gains you nothing, nor do the mufflers, and very little by that flashpaq tune... the downpipe and cold air intake are providing the most gains in that setup... he's probably around 270-275 fwhp...

Have yet to see that most dyno on gxp's, at least that I've seen pulled in high 247+ to 256 range bone stock and stock tune. Giving these platforms a 12-15% drive train loss is typical but with the age and wear on these vehicles I would say 15-17%ish. Regardless though its too easy to make some power through a good tune and a little money for intake and exhaust mods.

Probably about 225 to the wheels with that shitty Superchips tuner. Go back to stock and you'll be at about 240-245. Get a Lew tune and you'll be at about 265 or so. Ditch the Flowchokers for some Magnaflow or Spintech mufflers, and you'll be around 275.

Gotta disagree, Lew. Most of the guys with bone stock dyno numbers were around 240-250. 260 is going to be a decent bolt-on car.

I think you've been tuning a bunch of more powerful stuff lately and have forgotten how weak our cars are in stock form!

hahahaha! well, I was figuring 303 - 15% = 258... so 260 basically, heh....

I uninstalled the superchips tune. Just kept the tuned tranny settings...car seems to run a lot better now. And im thinking of swapping the super 44s out for the spintech 6000's. Just hope they sound as good as the flows

I hear ya, Lew. Our drive train loss is closer to 20%, mostly due to our sloppy converters.

I have the Spintechs and they sound really good, though not as good as the Flowchokers. I like the Super 44 sound, but its well known that these can cost you HP, even over the stock mufflers.

heres a couple sounds for ya first with cherry bomb instead of the rear half of the exhaust second is a cutout which I like because I can cap it for road trips.
