Has anyone done one of these on an Allure/Lacrosse Super before?

I spent a good couple of hours today working on mine and got no where.
I got the car on stands, took off the dog bone, loosened the nuts on all mounts, removed the nuts on the front and lifted the engine slightly.

I removed the black plastic housing that covers the fog lights, lower fenderwell, etc. and had no success gaining access to the bolts on the lower or upper portions of the mount.

I feel like a moron and like I'm missing something very simple.

X11 has answered all of my questions and the poly mount looks like the utmost of quality by the way!

Just go from the top. Pull the spark plug wires closest to the coolant temp sensor and use a long extention and flexible joint

Finally got mine in - very nice!
The responsiveness is great.

Mine does vibrate more than the stock one - it's especially harsh when the motor is cold, going in reverse and when I go from low load to loading the motor at 2k or so RPM.

I have DOD disabled so I'm not sure why - however it's worth the responsiveness. Perhaps another mount is bad/going bad?

Thanks for the great mount - glad to finally have it installed.

On top of my last post - my motor did shake/move quite a bit (more everything around it including the exhaust).

Note that it's not missing - car only shows misses on cylinder 8 if it misses at all.

Plugs are tr6ix with msd wires (all new).
I'm thinking my dog bone is pretty well shot so I'm changing that out to see if it improves at all.

Hey Mike,

Glad you got it installed! I'd be curious to find out why your getting that kind of vibration. The movement you mentioned - is that at idle?

Cheers

So wait you have only one poly mount? If that's the case you will get a vibration cause the rest of your motor is flopping around and causing stress on the poly

Yup the movement was at idle.
Before the mount install if you popped the hood a lot of the hoses, Cai box, etc vibrated. If you looked at the mufflers they moved too.

You can feel it if you touch the motor. Now with the tighter mount nothing really moves. Car runs and drives great, good on gas, etc.

Vibes aren't unbearable by any means (I used to drive a 3100 malibu with all poly mounts, phone would vibrate across the dash @ idle). I was just a bit surprised as for the most part people reported no change in vibration.

Correct,

I was wondering if my trans/side/dog bones not being poly would cause issues.

So I did some more driving. Weirdly enough the vibes I get while cruising happen at low load. It's almost like I've got dod but I know it's disabled..

Either way, not the end of the world. Was just a little surprised (especially by idle) as folks said no increase in harshness. Just posting more wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I like the crispness and responsiveness, this unit is very well designed!

Hey Mike,

I still find strange you have the vibration - my motor is super smooth at idle, both before and after the mount install. Glad your happy with the mount, let us know if you find anything that might be making it run a little rough.

Cheers

I had my tuner disable it. Mind you in the Super there was never any way of telling if it's on/off. I could always unplug the dod connector and see if the car freaks out?

So I noticed the car sort of vibrates/shimmy's off of launch as it rolls forward if I do it very slowly or just let the car move forward. This may be signs of another issue and nothing to do with the mount? What could cause this? Car is not misfiring (verified with scanner), trans doesn't have issues shifting.

Thoughts?

So gents - some updates. I was wrong about DOD - it's on anywhere below 6% TPS in 4th.
This explains my low load vibes; I'm going to see my tuner and make sure its disabled for good this time.

I installed an intense dog bone and my idle vibrations have been reduced, my launch vibration reduced, my dod vibration insane and of general harshness at low speeds and high RPM increased minimally (very tolerable).

Again - mounts are awesome.

Edit - got the intense mount in fine

I'm gonna be in the market for new mounts if anyone wants to go half on some, not sure how much shipping would be but I'm gonna get the shorter dog bone, and upper poly mount. I think I might invest in those custom lower mounts though so I don't replace them again. I changed one before but not the others and the vibes are getting annoying
