difficulty of replacing lifters?

Default difficulty of replacing lifters?

hello everyone, i was thinking bout swapping in some ls7 lifters, for one, will these be fine on stock cam as long as dod is tuned out, and 2, whats the difficulty associated with replacing them, or how much would it be in labor

I believe you'd want to replace all of your DoD parts with non-DoD parts. But they will work just fine on the stock cam. Secondly you have to pull the heads to replace them. Not too difficult but will take you awhile. I did mine over the course of a weekend.

i already have a non dod tray that i have to put in, just wanted to get the lifters now, and then work my way to a cam lol. i guess i was wondering bout the pain in the *** in the back heads because its a transverse motor lol. i might remove my valve covers today jsut to see how accesible it all is, and how comfortable i am wiht it. thank you.

I removed the hood and the rear header and had quite a bit of room. Good luck with it lol.

With non dod lifters you'll need a non dod cam. The profile for the dod cylinders are different which would cause you to have some issues with other things. Plus if you're gonna go that far why not replace the garbage cam?

Stock ls2 cams make 70crank hp improvement over stock 5.3 truck cams.

because i dont have the funds or the means to pull the engine and replace the cam yet lol, but i am curious, the ls7 lifters would work with the ls2 cam?

I agree if you're pulling the heads for lifters do a cam at the same time but you'll be able to keep your stock cam if you really don't want to change it out now. The differences in lobe lift is minuscule. But yes, the LS7 lifters will work on any non-DoD cam basically.

depending on the year of you're LS4 you can use a ls9 cam costs around 100 bucksfor me in canada should be cheaper in usa
