The basic street rebuild is around $1800 now, but you can easily hit the $3800 mentioned above when you start adding things like billet input shaft, thicker chain, etc.

Mileage is irrelevant IMO I think extensive tuning and super **** maimtnence will keep this trans loving long. I'm almost 100k now on the factory trans with zero issues

It's money well spent. One of the best mods you can do to improve the ride.

When I was compiling the failure list by searching LS1Tech threads, I found a failure at 600 miles.

4T65E High Performance street/strip rebuild, Stage 2 valve body and Sonnax billet oversized 3rd apply piston which are both needed for higher HP builds. $1999.95

- Upgraded input shaft, 300M $449.99

- 7/8" Single chain conversion set, 2.93 ratio $299.95 (a GMR 1" chain set would be best if you can find one)

- Precision Industries custom built torque converter with billet cover, Turbo V8 application, 3,000 stall speed, 5 year warranty. $804.95

That puts your total for the transmission rebuild at $3554.84 with the above parts.

Also

1900 for gm 1 inch racing chain

300 for round trip shipping

700 if you don't supply a core

My grand total was 5750 or so

So do you think you got what you payed for? And would it be wise to have one built and put it on the shelf?
