lookin at a SS impala hey guys I'm a family guy now looking to get back to an ls platform, I found a 07 ss impala with 58k for 11,900. seems in good shape except the driver seat leather creased up. Whats the strong points and the weak points on these things. I wont be racing it a lot but do drive well spiritedly so please let me know how you like them and how they hold up, thanks.

Wheel bearing x 3 "very Common"
Transmission x1 "Very common"
WaterPump x1 "common"
Body Control Module x1 "fluke?"
Driver Side Power Seat x1 "fluke ?"
Radiator Cap x2 "plastic junk dry rots"
Bend Lateral Arms x2 "replaced twice before getting BMR's"
Transmissions are known weak and garbage. Some go 100k some go 10k. It's a crapshoot. There are tips to prolong life but the only true fix is a R&R to replace the appropriate parts.

i just paid 8500 for a 2006 with 40k it needs tires bad car is in excellent condition i had to change coolant and i think it needs a front wheel bearing so I'm going to do both. has all options heated seats leather, sunroof and 8 speaker stereo so i think you could find a better price for one. car is blue looks awesome

try to get the longest warranty you can i think a tranny from tep is about 3k but it does not include the removal and reinstallation. i would still try to beat them up on price i love these cars but they are not highly sought after i think because of the fwd but if you live where it snows its a cool car that can get around ok in the weather. and still has a little ***** to it

Somewhat quick?? Hahaha I know it is not terribly fast but I have a 06 GXP and its the fastest car ive driven by far. Its faster than 90% of the cars on the road. And for sure prepare for a new transmission. People really underestimate these cars. I have a friend with a 2v gt that seams to think he would walk the dog with me

well yeah they are still quick but im comparing to my old 01 ss, im really not going to run it hard for a while, but it will get a down pipe, and wrap the crossover in hopes to help heat soak on the trans case. but 13's with the kids simpson car seat would be cool and yes unsuspecting.

I've still got my 02 ss 425rwhp and a yank 3600. not the fastest car on street but gets out of the hole pretty good with 315 drag radials. the impala still has some go but i guess I'm spoiled. of course i might make it about 300 feet before i crashed with an inch of snow on ground. thats why impala is a nice all round car
Everyone has covered the important stuff, but all I can say is, $11,900 is way to high for an 07 with those miles.
I paid $13,000 from a dealer out the door for a 30,000 mile 2006 SS...And that was back in May of 2009.
If you have to have an LS4 car, you can do much better than that.
