Default ls4 / 5.3 able to support 720@ crank ???????

i Currently have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS w/ 3.8 v6, i have already done the research to tear down the engine and rebuild and be set for 620 whp turbo charged. now the thing is i really wanted to go with the 06/07 5.3 Monte Carlo engine. I Have looked for performance parts didn't find any thing really but a turbo add on @ 8 psi doing mid 400's. the only way for me to go back to using the 5.3 is to get in the same power as the 3800 turbo @ 620 whp. any one knows more info ....that would be helpful thanks.

Stick with the 3800. You'll go faster for a lot less money.

I'm a big fan of LS motors and LS swaps, but the LS4 FWD setup just has too many inherent flaws and drawbacks to make serious power without a large outlay of cash...At least he kind of power you're talking about.

There is also just more support out there for 3800's... They came with superchargers and allot of after market stuff for them. I kind of wish i still had my 2002 Monte carlo Intimidator

I'm just gonna say the more you make on the 3800 the less reliable it is. We know 3800 have their flaws as well. The 5.3 we have has all the power potential a fwd trans could ever handle. It would not be hard to grab that power level on the 5.3 if your familiar with ls platforms.
