Default Small clunk on acceleration

The best way to describe it is exactly like a bad U-joint sounds on a rear drive.

Is there some sort of shaft or joints up front that get loose or develop play?

I'm not familiar with FWD

ball joints, cv joints (although they typically clunk in turns) control arm bushings, sway bar end links (although these also clunk typically in turns)

Not to scare BUT my imp started clunking when first starting off (forward only) and slowly got worse, kinda like it wasnt in gear good but would clunk and then go. Bad torque converter for the second time, I'm on #3 transaxle. These transaxles I think are underrated for the engine hp. Hope thats not whats wrong with yours, like spawne32 said, that other stuff is usually pronounced in turns.....

Hopefully its something similar to mine , have a clunk under acceleration but also under breaking as well. Of course when i took it in the sound couldn't be duplicated. I haven't had much time to investigate but i believe its suspension related. Struts ? No noise when popped in neutral and reving. Have a tep rebuild so im eliminating that ( hopefully )lol.
Keep us posted.

I get a clunk just once when I put it in gear and start to move forward. If I go slow, it won't clunk right away, but it will eventually happen not too shortly after taking off.

Sh*t motor mounts don't sound like an easy fix.... it is definitly more pronounced while going straight and setting off, even slowly. Sometimes I get a similar noise on the turns but not always.

Would the motor mounts not make the same noise when simply revving in neutral?

There's no load on the drive train in neutral all three motor mounts can take about a hour to do with haND tools

Hey all- Not to jump in and take over this post but I have this as well. I've been wanting to replace my mounts as well but I see no clear leader in aftermarket replacement parts for our cars.
What brand is a good one to get?
I have little time to research this and usually just buy from Rockauto or local parts stores. What is a decent mount that isn't a solid full race mount or whatever. My car is a stocker and I probably won't do much to it but a nice firm mount would be good enough for me. I want something that is going to last and not fail in the near future like the Rockauto or parts store cheapie replacement parts.
Thanks.
Mike

p.s. Are there only three mounts? I'm not 100% sure if it's 3 or 4.

There's a lower front mount, a lower rear mount, and then the upper mount. The transmission shares the lower rear mount with the engine and then has a separate mount as well. As far as after markets go you can get poly all the way around. A member on here was getting the lowers custom made so you'd have to find that post. And as for the upper mount and the transmission mount the ones on ZZP and stuff work for our cars.

Ya the upper looks easy. How would I go about doing the lower mounts? Or where are they located? Will be under there changing my oil soon so was going to wait till then before I check it out.
