Hey all. I'm really scratching my head and looking for answers. There is a ticking noise coming from my right front wheel when i turn slightly right and at speed. I've just replaced the transmission, struts/coils, control arms, tie rods, ball joints, brakes, rotors, tires, and CV axles all within this week. The car is basically brand new under there and yet the noise still proceeds. The noise started last week out of nowhere and i can't figure it out. There is nothing as far as debris or anything that could cause this as it's all been apart. The tires also arent rubbing anywhere. Any ideas? 08 Impala SS (LS4)
There is a small tab behind the front rotor, its called the backing plate and is easily bent. If that touched the rotor it will make a noise, not a click but at speed it might sound different. The sway bar links can make noise as well, and also I have heard the strut bearings if not installed correctly can make some noise. Clicking is usually CV joint related. Good luck, post back your findings when you resolve this.
Thanks for responding, guys. I'll look into the back plate. I forgot to mention the Sway Bar Links and Wheel Hubs are also all brand new. It seemed to start right after i put the links on
Make sure the endlinks are tight, if they came with a regular nut replace it with a nylon insert nut.Also Moog makes problem solver endlinks that are worth the couple extra bucks, cheap endlinks are only going to cause you added grief. Yikes, should have read better its an Impala, backing plate may be different as I have a Grand Prix.
