Well I am back from the track, and the Impala did not do so good. Here is what I did
R/T .064
60 2.315
330 6.184
1/8 9.395
mph 76.67
1000 12.146
1/4 14.459
mph 95.87
So not very good. How do you guys get it out of the hole? It spins so bad all the way through 1ST, I tryed to go EZ on it and it still did it I think that the track was cold 45f out side. I did beat a Dodge Magnum with the 5.7, All well I had a great time oh and the NOS system had a bad switch and did not work next time ....

Jeez, I don't know, have you run a FWD car before?? I'll say prob not..I'm gonna help you out (EVEN THOUGH I'M SURE I'LL REGRET IT WHEN YOU BEAT MY TIME!!), I was given the knowledge of a man, no wait....A LEGEND in the Grand Prix World...over 1700 1/4 runs under his belt in his red 4dr GTP
Steve (Twisted1)

Leave the line on 1/8 throttle and ease down in a fluid motion at the same time say the word Hippopotamus, trying to time the pedal hitting the floor at the end of the word..I dropped from a 14.1 to an immediate 13.905, with a best (an hour later) of 13.811 @ 100.96 with a 2.06 60'...That is the key, with the GXP's wide front tires and stickier compound we have to do this to avoid the TMS (Torque Management System) so it dosen't fall on its face 30' into the run (I almost ate the steering wheel a few times, plus it's very embarassing), but with your car having thoses harder compound tires plus about 2.5 inches less contact patch your problem is different but will be remedied the same way...Keep us posted, also on ClubGP.com

^^^ What Tony said. It's good advice, once you get those 60's down, you'll be close to 13's.

yeah only problem with the Imp is it don't have tapshift........with that the car will let you hold any gear till U SHIFT, not the computer, so if you shifting into 3rd then that is killing you quarter times. my car ran 14.1 in 100 degree weather in AUG with just leaving in D. You just need to work on your launch

(Torque Management System) sucks all runs were done in 2nd. I have over 500 runs in my Vette over the years but fwd and TMS is a new one on me... One of the Vette guys said that it is to close to my time, he had a bone stock 87and it ran 14.1 @99mph ha ha, well It was fun but the next time I will be in the Vette it runs 11.40's at 128mph on street tires 315 35 17 AVS Sports..

The Monte and the Impala have a huge advantage over the GXP in the quarter mile since they have FAR less rotating mass. Once you learn to launch that thing you should be a good bit faster stock vs. stock. Did you do any track prep at all? (Tire pressure, headlight, ABS, etc?)

No track prep at all, just pulled up an ran it, Most of the Vettes had DR or ET Streets,Tire pressure was 33psi front and back... The SS only has 500mi on it, I think it will get better as the mile's go up. How can make it shift better from 1st to 2nd it fills soft.. ie HP Tuner or LS1 edit?

Default hey 60ft dont allways mean slow times :)

i ran 13.9@ 102 mph with a 2.2 or 2.3 60ft dont remember exact anymore.

i had a open cone K&N 9inch filter, and resonator removed with dynomax ultra flow mufflers. no track prep and had half a tank of gas. def get some kind of filter setup other than the airbox.

also. i didnt do it because i was lazy. but it seems 26psi in the front tires seem to be the best for traction off the line. somewhere in that ballpark.

i belive tony ripped a 2.011 60ft correct me if im wrong tony.

in the end though the imp should technically be alittle slower. not having tapshift, and also weighing alittle bit more. either way. having 3 cars all with the exact same internals should create a huge aftermarket for us. Intense has made a custum FWI kit for us and also is working on some rockers. WOOT!

Oddly enough the best 60' was a 2.02 (13.905 or a 14.0 forget which run it was) but on my quickest 1/4 (13.811 ) was a 2.06, as for the "LESS ROTATING MASS", to me would be negated by no "MANUMATIC" like our tap shift, also my HUD helped me at the end of the 1/4, 101mph "Click" 3rd gear!!! It shifts fast !!!! Don't get any easier than that, If I went by the "UPSHIFT" light I would've shifted at 95mph...

From the look of his MPH, his car needs to brek in a little more, cause that's way below its potential..

Our brakes and giant wheels will never let us make full potential. Don't believe me? Swap over to the grand am brakes the crazy people run, add slicks and skinnies, and see what happens. Our power and gearing are good for far better than anyone is pulling, but it will never happen with all of that mass.

Personally, I'll stick to the road course *if* I race this one at all.

could the tires be changing the ratio enough to cause a difference?? Is your car 2.93 final drive like the GXP?
