thanks!

I took it out to the 1/8 mile and traction is impossible, you have to baby it off the line. I ran a better time with TCS on. i only got 2 runs in, There is some other guys that have ran 13.6x stock in the 1/4.

MAN! thats a better 1/4 mile time then i was expecting. i dont doubt it that u had traction problem u have a small block v8 in a front wheel drive car. does anybody know of anyone who has dyno'd one? if u do what did it make?

Yeah, mine was dyno'd at around 242-245 with about 2k on the clock. It was then tuned and gained about 11 hp at the wheels. That was with the Vector tune...

I have not been to the strip (to me track is a road course) so I can't tell you the differences but the tune is noticable on the street. Gained about 3 mph top end (on the dyno) and $hitty 60' times. It just wouldn't get traction almost all the way through first gear.

Anyway, the person who has the lowest times, TonyGXP, has had the following suggestion for best 60' times: Hippopotamus. Load the torque converter (about 1200 to 1500 r's) and depress the pedal while saying "Hippopotamus" and by the time you're done, you should be floored.

Hope this helps...

rolling into it is only part of it.

Practice makes perfect on that.

the best ways to get the car to hook without to much labor and expense is to put on a set of et street drag radials and some spring blockers for the rear. That will with out a doubt get you into the 1.7 range these v8 cars stock have the power to do it. Sub 1.7 requires a bit more. There are a multiple gtp's in the 1.5's and 1.6's.

Many of us have been using this exact method to get good short times. At this point i wouldn't go overboard with tranny mods as you guys are under warrenty still.

I was looking at a dark cherry GP GXP and noticed it had 255s in the front and 225s in the rear. Does the Monte SS have bigger tires in the front than rear. It was a real nice car, but I have no need for a 4 door.

The Monte does not have the wider front tires, or the Bilstein struts, upgraded brake calipers and larger cross-drilled rotors. It also doesn't have TapShift. I have no real need for a 4 door either, but couldn't pass up the better suspension and brakes on the GP.

those new ss's are awesome looking, definitely the way to go if you need four doors and cant afford an m5. Can't wait till people really start modding them.

Thumbs up

So, me and my girlfriend go bowling last Sunday and there is a Chevy dealership right next door. So, I was like after bowling, let's go look at the new 2007 LTZ Tahoes and '06 Monte SS's. BAD MOVE!!! We walk over there and bam! right in our face is the '06 Monte SS in silver, (the same color I had in a '01). We both stop and look at each other and start DROOLING!!!! Ever since then, I cannot stop thinking about this car. I kinda wish I traded my '01 Monte SS for the '06 Monte SS instead of the Dodge DAYTONA ram. WHAT AN AWESOME CAR!!!!

I like the new Monte, especially with v8 power. Do the ground effects come painted on all SS models or is it an option? Black/silver and red/silver are what I like.

I loved the supercharged Montes, they looked bad *** with the painted gfx and the better exhaust. Now they look even better (while still keeping the same overall "look" of the last ones) AND have an LS based V8? These cars better hurt the sales of Accords, Camrys, etc. No comparison.
