I had my Impala SS at the track the other day and the next day I noticed a couple drops of oil on the garage floor. I found the bottom of the oil pan lightly coated so I wiped all the oil off and checked it today and cannot find a leak anywhere. Do any of you have a suggestion of what may have happened? I checked the whole motor over and cannot find where it could came from.

No clue... pan gasket maybe

Just keep checking it very often. Its obviously hard to tell once oil gets on everything.

Or just take it to the dealer.

I think oil leaked out through the dip stick because after cleaning the engine and driving it there is no sign of oil leaking anywhere under the car. I was at a road course racing the owner in his new BMW 330. The SS had more straightaway power but the BMW smoked me through the turns.

Could you have had a slightly loose oil filter? Maybe the oil could've escaped from the gasket and spread over the oil pan.
