Question if turbos are wanted for 5.3L Let me introduce myself. My name is joel and I have a performance shop in cleveland,OH. Its called OHIO FORCED INDUCTIONS INC. I was wondering if there is a need or want for a single turbo setup for the 5.3l FWD Gm cars. If there is let me know. I would love to have one of these cars myself, but have
to many toys already. I will also be looking for a donar car if anybody is interested. Thanks OFI

I think there would be a want for it, provided its reasonably priced, and good quality.
It would be super easy to mount as there is plenty of room in the area of the cross over pipe to mount the turbo.
No doubt it would have enough steam to drive through the 4T65E HD in short order then lol, not mention keeping the front meats from going up in smoke constantly will be a task lol.

if you had been aorund 4-5 months ago. i would have lent my car 
but i traded it in. but yes if you head over to clubgp.com and go into the 5.3l section their are twice as many 5.3 guys their than here.

turbo would be great, but at what cost to the end user.
how many lbs are you talking here? bigger pump, injectors to come with the kit?
the tranny seems to have a mind of it's own. some are good, some go boom.
mine is handling 400ft lbs just fine. others seem to pop them stock
so who knows

I'd be interested in the turbo. Love to let you use my car but I'm a little far off in NJ. If you goto clubgp.com you may find someone close to you. I'm sure youd see alot of interest there.

the GXP trans isnt weak. i drove mine pretty good and it never hickuped. dont complain about tranny going boom. if your worried about that your in the wrong business of wanting to go fast. and the car wouldnt need more than like 7-9 lbs of boost to gain like 90+fwhp being such a high litre engine compared to the 4 bangers.

Im begining to think the transmission is not physically "under-engineered" at all. Mainly just crappy GM programming and a few faulty torque convertors. After adjusting some things with HP Tuners mine doesn't slip or chatter anymore while shifting and the TCC has quit slipping while cruising on the interstate. It feels much more solid and responsive now.
Anything will break with enough abuse though.
