Default G Body vs W body (LS4 packaging)

I have heard that the Riviera and Aurora were on the G Body, but that the Impy and Monte and on the W body. if the G body had the northstar in the Aurora, wouldnt it stand to reason that a G body could take an LS4 drivetrain under the hood?

The reason is that I have 2 1996 rivieras that my mom gave me since she just bought a GXP, and I am curious to see if an LS4 might fit these big buicks in the near future.

Any tips or info is appreciated

It might, as I think the Northstar package is bigger than the LS4/4T65E combo due to the Northstar tranny being larger. I think one of the reasons GM didnt use the higher capacity Northstar tranny in the W body V-8 was size. Now if the W bodies had the Northstar tranny, man, what monsters we could make without fear of blowing things up!

if it can fit a northstar it should fit a ls4, but there might be a small stupid little part of the package that could cause the whole thing to not fit, like placement of accessories or some silly **** like that...
