After more than i year with the car, i still don't like how bug-eyed the Imp looks. The MCSS doesn't look nearly as bad with the same headlights due to the more agressive bumper/valance combo.
Funny you should mention that...this thread got me thinking about it again and i went to the store to buy some pinstriping and painting tape so that i could do the same with paint.
I'd say "Good luck" with getting the vinyl to lay properly over the complex curves that are our headlights, but you're the vinyl guy, right? Who needs luck?!?!

I agree...the new lights are bugged out. I, however, went with headlight tinting instead. Right now they look a little brown because I didn't go dark enough....but once I get my HID's I'm going darker. My light output is still fantastic and would prolly be like stock if I merely threw in some silverstars. I'm also going to paint the chrome parts black and paint the emblems black and reapplying the red vinyl inserts (this is just to get rid of the chrome outline that the emblems currently have). Finally, I'll get some black rims, paint the calipers red, MPD ram air intake hood, and maybe do a thin red pinstripe around the ground effects and call it a day. I won't rest until this bugged eyed monte looks scary as hell!

Anyone thinking of painting the inside chrome of the headlights black, like the last gen Imp or Grand Cherokee??? would want to leave the projector chrome.
I think black headlight bezels on my red car would go well w/ the rest of the black trim.

I do like that tint above? was that all done in one piece?? How that go on without pockets?

He had it professionally spray-tinted in Jersey...costly but damn nice looking.

There's some sort of black sealant between the two...not sure how strong it really is. If you remove one and look at it, you'll notice there are clips holding the lens to the housing...on my "test" headlight i tried cutting the sealant with a razor but couldn't for the life of me get them apart. I really dislike the chrome in the housing.
On another note, i just finished painting the lens after masking off the headlight & signal areas...but haven't taken off the masking tape...time to do that.
I also just re-did my taillight with the VHT niteshades spray tint. I went too dark the first time and used less this time...looks good but i have a couple runs i'll need to wet-sand before it's complete. Unfortunately, with the VHT, you really need to go on thick to get full coverage, and by that time it's almost TOO dark. I'll get a few pics once i finish.
[EDIT: Well, I removed the masking from the headlight and it looks like crap. Because the lens sits so far away from the housing, you see all sorts of chrome through the areas i left unpainted...just doesn't look good at all. I used goof off to clean it up a bit and think that if i leave the headlight lenses and front blinker open, and cover up the sidemarker, it would look much better...however my daughters misplaced my tape so i cannot mask off what i need to now.
The taillight looks real nice, though, not too dark but dark enough. I got some specks of lint in the tint so i need to do it over again. Also, there were a couple runs so i had to re-do it anyway. Where'd you get those headlight covers? Been looking for those and can't find them anywhere. Did I understand that the company you got them thru has different shades of darkness of the smoked ones like you've got?

He's a really nice guy and makes sure you get exactly what you want. What you see above is Medium tint. I'm not crazy about it because the lights look brown in direct sunlight. I'm gonna go darker and install HID's.

I've been looking to purchase another set of headlights to have tinted, so i am not without my (only) car for any period of time. I've tried tinting my own with VHT NiteShades but that's not working for me. I can get the taillight right, but the headlight just doesn't work.
I just bought a set of HID's, so i'm ahead of the game there, only i went too high on the K scale by mistake, and now may need to hold off on the tint.
