01 Monte Carlo codes Someone I work with is wondering if there is a way to retrieve engine codes from his 01 MC without having to borrow a scan tool from Autozone every time. I know it is possible on the vettes, can it be done on a MC?

And why is this here? Hmmmm...without some sort of scan tool, i don't see how you could do this. I know with OBD-I you could use a paper clip to jump the pins and make the CEL flash the code on the dash.
He could just BUY a scan tool, i guess. I used to have "CarChip" (add a www and a dotcom) for my Explorer - it was an inexpensive tool to check and reset the codes i got, as well as track certain engine parameters. He could probably pick one up on eBay for $40 or so.
