Intense Fenderwell intake
Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I would like opinions on the Intense Fenderwell intake. Anyone here have it? I was thinking of getting one but I was wondering if there are any fitment issues.

Only thing i've heard is that it doesn't work on the Monte due to there being more structural steel on the fender itself...that's it...so that shouldn't bother your Imp setup. Haven't heard much of anything with any of the FWIs out there.
I've got the K&N and love it, and others here have the CAI and love it.

Any odd behavior with adding on the K&N? I remember my 04 Silverado did not like the free flowing intake system for some A/F mixture reason. It changed the shift points on occasion. The service guy at the dealer said the same thing when I took the truck in for another issue..

aside from that, everything is fine. filter is kind of a pain in the *** to get in and out. makes it worse when you have the IAt sensor in the front of the filter

I was going to get the K&N, but the price is so much more than the Intense. And to be honest, I bet that the Intense works better. Not saying the K&N is a bad product, but the Intense should draw cooler air being in the fenderwell. The only thing is the K&N might be CARB exempt in the future, which would be better since I live in CA. I was just wondering if the install is straight forward or if anything needs to be cut or modified.

Nope...nothing should need to be cut or modified on the imp...just the monte.
If you didn't already guess, you'll need to remove the wheelwell liner to get the filter in there, but that's about it. You should probably buy a set of the plastic clips that hold in that liner b/c you'll probably break/damage enough of them that the liner won't ever sit right again, and you'll be throwing water right into the filter area.

Unfortunately, I was the one who found out that the intense FWI didn't fit on the Monte. That being said, it might not work on an impala either, since I think both cars use the same hood and fenders. Here are a couple of pics of what I’m talking about.

The GXP definatly has a little better handling. . .$2K MSRP worth, probably not. . . .
The thing that sold me on the Impala is the interior. . .the GXP interior is all bubbly, curvy, and crappy looking. It looks too girlish on the inside for me.

This is what I have on the big-dog:
http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...47&BIG=21047-1
This gave me more gains at speeds above 70 mph than the $4,000 hood / rim / rear spoiler package ever gave me. It intakes in the high pressure area before the radiator, just like the C5 and C6 Corvettes do. Like sticking your head out the window and opening your mouth.
I looked under the hood when I first got this car, and just like the pics show above, there is NO provision to bring a direct draw into the box.
Usually GM provides a way to enhance flow, but in our case, the only thing we can do is remove the 60mm intake tube, put a K&N style filter in the box, and remove the front headlight. But that would look like crap on a Friday night cruise.
