I think something is wrong with my traction control...
Yesterday I was pulling out into traffic and decided to turn off the TC so I could see what kind of true acceleration my '06 Impala has (just got it a few weeks ago) so when it was time to go I got on the gas pretty hard (pretty much full throttle) and during my turn, the car bucked hard (total loss of power) three times before I had completed my turn. It really sucked but I was pretty low on gas and thought maybe it was some air bubbles in the line or something. Filled it up on my way home.
This morning, same scenario, thought I'd try it again. Turned the TC off and when the light turned green, made my hard acceleration sweeping right turn and the same thing happened again. WTF?
When on the highway I tried some straight line acceleration with the TC off and it was fine. I think the problem only happens while turning or when the tires slip. It's almost as if the TC is still on but I know that's not it. The bucking (stalling) is too severe. Anyone ever experience this? If not, I guess I'll have to take it in for service. I'm hoping all I need to do is reboot the PCM or something.
IT can be shut off with HP tuners, i have mine turnd off sice last time i had it to the track. Was facing same issues.
Even if you have the T/C turned off, your car will still shut power down if you experence too much wheel spin. Think about it, your U-joints are at their farthest travel point, and you want to apply 300HP to them? Snap them in no time.
Not a smart move. But you aren't the only person that ever did that, that's why Big Brother is there for you.
That's a RWD trick only.
