Unfortunately me neither. My stock Imp has run a 14.09. However, I have not seen any GXP run in the 13's either.

Unfortunately, No we don't have tap shift.

Chrsmi1 on this site says he ran 13.8 with his MCSS stock with a 2.2 60' time, so he claims(not doubting, just haven't seen a slip).

Holy crap if that is his real time that would be about a 13.4-13.5 time with a decent launch. For a stock LS4 that is crazy. Either he has one hell of a factory freak or maybe he had another car pushing him down the track.

Default heavy

On my 14.09 pass my 60 ft time was 2.150 in my Impala. The Monte Carlo SS is just over 200 pounds lighter than the Impala SS according to Chevy.

Wish I had the time, or I would. I also have skinny front tires, oh well. Maybe you can make to Toledo, you would have a choice of two tracks, Norwalk (good) or Milan (bad). Of course not until spring. Are tracks down there open all year? My car doesn't have tap shift, but it will hold a gear to redline if I manually hold it there with the selector. For those cars not programmed you can just pull to the line, put in 2 and go, it will hold second through the 1/4.

Hasn't happened again in a while, but TonyGXP (maybe not a member here, but is at ClubGP) ran a stock 13.6 in his GXP and had slips to prove it...and then he dumped the GXP for a TBSS.

Others have high 13.7's, iirc, but most are in the 13.8-13.9 area.

13.69@102 2.1 60' with the GF driving it..... Just had the ORDP and the head light removed and the tranny tune tweaks... 45 degree air.

Thats pretty damn stock to me anyway!

A BONE stock MC-SS or Impy-SS would run this time too if a good 60 ft' could be cut.

Thats pretty damn stock to me anyway!

Rockers and drag radials for spring... see how close it can get to the 12's before the bottle.

ah son of a.
i never had a chance to run with the iat moved, and in colder air. ambient temp of 79 degrees, so iat about 110 degree's. i pulled a 13.73@100.6 mph with a 2.0 60ft {best 60 has been 1.98}

bone stock ran a 13.89@97. another 2.0 60.

last time i ran was at the branson gp deal, ripped off a tire smokin 13.2@108 mph on a 50 shot. wheeeeeeeeeeeee

blah. damn water pump kept me from goin to the track in kc. we'll find out this spring what it runs as it sits now, or with new mods here and there. guess i could do a dyno run and see what power i have gained with new mods, if any.

the sad thing is, i had a stock mcss pick on me a while back. he got a face full of my *** end as i pulled him. {he smoked the **** out of the tires off the line}

silverls4, i may add that to my stop on my spring road trip to NJ.

ah well, who cares, we're all going for the same thing

I finally dug up my Milan (bad track) time slips. There I ran a best of 14.19 at a 100.5 (1/10 slower time, 1.2 mph faster). However the 60 ft time was 2.39, really proud of that. Best 60 of the day for me was 2.37. Never seen another ls4 w body at the same time to compare. Milan is notoriously slower than Norwalk (2.15 60ft), even little cooler the Milan day.
So Area47, your gonna have to teach me how to launch this thing.

ohhh i can do that, but street launch is completely different then track launch. which is why i rarely race from a dig on the street. it's pointless for me to do it

Default I like street

You know it never seems like I can geat as good of grip at the track. I know it sounds crazy. At the track, once/if the tires start spinning it seems like I really have to get off the gas to get traction back. On the street if the tires start to spin I can usually maintain that throttle level and the tire will quickly stop spinning then I can get back to gettin on it. Maybe I just don't know how to drive.

Slam some slicks on that thing stat! and bring us some 12 sec slips, those TB-SS guys are kicking our ***!!

If i only had more money to play with... I want the first noted LS4 in the 12s though dammit, perhaps on motor would be even better!

Agree with the false sense of traction ... sucks if you go to test & tune night and can only get 3 runs in all night.

My buddy's Z28SS can launch @ 3500 rpm, mine couldn't keep traction @ 2500 rpm when it was stock. Even switching lanes didn't help. Huge variance in production tolerance. Stock -vs- stock, mine was always a half car faster in the 1/4. I also leave .3 on the table every time because I'm too chicken to stay @ WOT on the 2-3.

Need to find out what rpm you can leave the line with and start there. Cheap traction fix is drop your air pressure (is that even safe w/ a FWD???). Agree w/ popping the D/S headlight out at the track. Remove the 60mm intake tube from your box to get a constant 80mm through the intake line. Throw in a K&N for less than $50. If you're serious after that, you gotta throw $$$ at it. Tuning, exhaust, tires, etc.

Automatics are supposed to be the most consistant for drag racing. As mushy as this MCSS's shifts are, I gotta believe you can gain something from a shift kit, especially if they're only $30.

Damn I want spring to get here!!!

Played with my car again today. I completely agree that it has a 2.93 final drive ratio, with a 3.29 axle ratio. The thing that was confusing me was when you run the car in "D", it shifts a little before redline, and while glancing at the speedo I was getting shift speeds closer to what C&D printed with the Impala SS review. If you manually select gears and force it to hold the gear until the redline, I get the same speeds as what they calculated with the 2.93 final drive ratio.

Thanks for the input guys. And good track times too!

This is what my gear calc says:

GearCalc v2.0.0.1 Copyright ©2001, Peter Ogden
Gear Ratio, Speed and RPM Calculator

Gear set: Manually entered values
Gear 1 2 3 4 Final
Ratios: 2.920 1.560 1.000 0.700 3.290

RPM Limit: 6100
RPM @Peak Power: 303
Tire Size: 235/50 x 18
Tire Diameter: 27.25 in
Tire Circumference: 85.61 in

1st - 50 mph / 5925 rpm
2nd - 95 mph / 6014 rpm
3rd - 150 mph / 6087 rpm

Gear set: Manually entered values
Gear 1 2 3 4 Final
Ratios: 2.920 1.560 1.000 0.700 2.930

RPM Limit: 6100
RPM @Peak Power: 303
Tire Size: 235/50 x 18
Tire Diameter: 27.25 in
Tire Circumference: 85.61 in

1st - 55 mph / 5804 rpm
2nd - 105 mph / 5920 rpm
3rd - 165 mph / 5963 rpm

I don't think there is a SWAG for co-efficent of drag in this calculator, but its pretty much dead-on for my Z28SS, which I used to encourage the 4.10 install. Darn close to your C&D results.

Edit: answered my ? on COD: http://www.locost7.info/gearcalc.php

if i can get a 1.6 60ft, i'll hit 12's on motor, easy. i won't have to pedal the car.

the tbss's around here only run me from a dig, from a 70 punch, it's over for them. i have run door to door with a tbss that trapped 106 on motor from a roll. i also walked one that went 13.4 @ 103 on the highway. granted aerodynamics come into play. im ok with that, he picked on me!

i think it's up to either you or me to hit 12's, i may do that when the track opens. i can do a dry kit in about 15 mins. so i can get the mph back
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
