6-speed manual transmission
Designed with a super smooth short throw for more spirited driving, the six speed manual transmission has the ideal first gear launch feel and lower cruising revs in sixth. It's the obvious choice for those who prefer a 'hands-on' approach.
or 6 speed automatic transmission with Active Select (optional at an additional cost)
Paired perfectly to the Generation 4 Alloy V8 power train on the new Impala SS, the six speed automatic transmission has a truly world class shift feel, and delivers improved acceleration and fuel economy. Active Select gives you the added advantage of one touch switching between automatic or manual gear shifting.
6.0 litre Generation 4 Alloy V8 engine
For supreme power there's only one choice: the 6.0 litre Generation 4 Alloy V8.
It generates a brutal 270kW* of power and 530Nm of torque, giving it exceptional performance and towing capabilities. Its features include:
Aluminium alloy construction, creating a lightweight engine for a smoother ride
Less weight in the front end, allowing more precise steering response, which translates into more agile handling
A one-piece induction system made from composite materials, for smooth airflow and superior breathing

I don't think we will ever know until it hits the showroom floor. I have heard of a 6.2 liter 400 horse Impala SS and a 362 (or something) Pontiac G8, both based on the Holden SS. Actually even heard Buick might get a car based on that Holden also. I am not getting really excited about these cars because with the highest horse motor in one of them they will probably be priced much more than I would/can spend on a car (I would guess upper 30's) for me to drive around, after all I have to keep my wife and kids in a good car. Besides with a 362 horse 4 door rear driver it shouldn't be much quicker if at all. Look at the old stlye 350 horse holden car (04 GTO), they aren't much of a problem even if a little modified. I would bet these new Holden based cars would weigh more than the GTO's anyway. I sure do like rear drive though.

This website has some pictures and info about the 08 G8 based on the Commodore SS. It says 4.0 liter V8 362 hp and will cost about $25,000 (probably base model) So it may be a decent price with the V8.

The Impala will share the look of the grill I think. It should also have some of the commodore features as well, as far as the flares go and maybe some other features.http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...mmodoress3.jpg

I'm thinking around $33k for a fully loaded every option car, and this GM we are talking about, if you wait past the first 8 months its out then you will be able to get if for about $2k cheaper than that.

Like the guys said in another post, they don't use their GM discount, they haggle a better price.
Hurry up and pay that Monte off, use it as a daily driver, and keep the Camaro mint.

I'm sure there will be a huge demand for it, so it will definitely sell at a premium, but who knows - maybe it depends on what the final production sticker will end up being...
if it's priced like the Vette's, then yeah - but if it's priced like the Monte's, I can't see it happening...
